World’s Largest Lunch Box On Display at Gas & Oil Expo in Calgary
BigSteelBox Structures, presented the “world’s largest lunch box” at the Gas & Oil Expo in Calgary in June, 2013. This custom designed lunchroom was constructed for leading global mining and metals company Rio Tinto Alcan, and will serve remote workers at their B.C. operations based in Kitimat, BC.
“We’ve been working with our industrial customers and there’s a growing demand for our steel boxes, which can be modified to meet any commercial and industrial use, including work camp housing and offices,” says Devon Siebenga, BigSteelBox Structures President. "A BigSteelBox is durable, secure and mobile, and strong enough to weather northern field conditions."
The mobile lunch box was on site for Gas & Oil show goers to tour. It was made from a Bigger Box - 14 feet wide by 28 feet long - which is double the size of a traditional shipping container. The Bigger Boxes have also been a popular choice for mobile labs, where the extra width creates a better workspace for oil field testing.

Benefits of Building with Steel
For mobile structures on remote worksites, building with steel makes sense when compared to wood-frame construction.
BigSteelBoxes are built for ocean shipping and withstanding the elements, so they're much more solid, durable and stackable than trailers.
