Why Choose BigSteelBox Structures for Your Modular Building Project?
We have more than a decade of experience building with shipping containers, and we finish our projects to the highest standard.
There are many reasons to choose a steel structure over wood frame, and even more reasons to choose BigSteelBox Structures to create your mobile building.
Through our experience we have created a process that helps us surpass our customers' expectations on a consistent basis.
Whether you're choosing a standard or custom product, we have checks and balances in place to make sure we deliver the right solution. The steps below describe a larger-scale custom project, but we follow the same discipline when designing and constructing our standard products. While the stages are the same, the process is more streamlined.
We work with you to understand and verify your needs. We'll ask the right questions, listen carefully and bring together the right group of consultants. If necessary, our in-house designers will do preliminary drawings to ensure all the stakeholders are on the same page. The schedule and timeline is reviewed to make sure all milestones are attainable.
Estimation & Scope
Once we have a well-defined and approved scope, we create a detailed estimate. Costs are verified by our team of consultants before we make a submission, and we look for value-engineering opportunities in the negotiation phase.
Design & Sign-Off
One of the things that sets us apart is our design capabilities. We keep the end use in mind, but we always look for opportunities to make the product better. This may mean a more functional use of space, greater comfort for the user or more sustainable features. In the presentation and review stage, we make sure that the you understand all aspects before final sign-off.
The building stage includes scheduling, procurement and construction. Throughout the building process, we will maintain regular communication with you. We schedule frequent milestones to make sure we are on track. Our process for change-orders is structured to clearly communicate instructions to all parties.
We inspect our structures at hold points throughout the build process. Before the finished product leaves the production facility, we do a final inspection to make sure everything meets the specifications. We also invite our clients to do an onsite inspection with us, so we can address any issues prior to transport.
One of our strengths as an organization is our transportation department. Together with storage division, we move more boxes to more places than any other shipping container companies in Canada. We also understand transporting modified boxes and how to package the interior and exterior to avoid potential issues.
We work closely with your team and the necessary on-site trades to make sure that our buildings are installed correctly. Everything we build is designed to be a turn-key solution. When the structure arrives, it needs to operational as quickly as possible, and that's part of our planning process.
Build to Suit
We can customize a solution to fit your needs. If you can dream it, we can build it.

Residential Moving & Storage
BigSteelBox makes residential moving and storage simple.
We deliver a BigSteelBox to your home, you pack it at your own pace, then we pick it up and move it to your new home. If you need storage, keep the Box at your place or we'll store it at one of our secure locations.
Benefits of Building with Steel
For mobile structures on remote worksites, building with steel makes sense when compared to wood-frame construction.
BigSteelBoxes are built for ocean shipping and withstanding the elements, so they're much more solid, durable and stackable than trailers.
